Our Math Team is Awesome!
Math Team:
Congratulations to the math team for its first place win at Saturday's Eastern Maine competition. Clifton, Ransom, Ethan, and Andy all placed in the top ten, with Clifton taking the second place trophy and Ransom third place. The four boys will next compete, individually and as a team, at the state level in mid-March.

Team members prepared this presentation as part of the FIRST LEGO League's Smart Move challenge.  At the challenge, they'll also get a chance to move into the finals with their robot.  Team members spent the fall writing mission programs that move their robot across the course accessing things and places, and avoiding and surviving impacts.  This is Conners Emerson's second year with a robotics team;  their robot was purchased with a grant from the PTSA.

Solar Car Club...a learning lab activity for interested fifth graders
Fifth grade Solar Sprinters tested their engineering accomplishments one sunny day last week, and today, celebrated the results with some teacher-made trophies.  Some of the students have been invited to continue on to the state meet, which will be at the Owl's Head Transportation Museum on the last Saturday in May.  Others are already planning how to make their car even faster for next year's race.  (It looks like we'll be needing a 6th grade Solar Car Club.)
Thank you PTSA, for funding the materials for the solar cars!
And thank you, Maine Energy Educational Program for sponsoring the event!
