WHERE in the WORLD are the active volcanoes?


Find out, by following the steps listed below.

Step 1:  Visit the Global Volcanism Program to find a volcano that is active this week.  You'll find a map that looks like this:

Step 2Volcanoes are marked by triangles.  Click on a red triangle to learn about an active volcano.
Once there, read about the volcano's recent unrest.
Also, look for a link to more information  from the Global Volcanism Program. This will bring you to a page that includes a photo and interesting information.

Step 3:  Record answers to the following questions on your worksheet.
  1. What is the volcano's name?
  2. Where is it located?
  3. What's the latitude and longitude of its location?
  4. What kind of volcano is it?
  5. How tall is it?
  6. When did its latest unrest occur?  What happened?
  7. When was its last BIG eruption?  What happened?
  8. What other interesting information can you find?
