Gifted and Talented Program
Conners Emerson School, Bar Harbor, Maine

With an early identification model, services for gifted and talented children have existed since 1998. Our intent is to provide students with challenging and appropriate educational programming as well as to support their social and emotional needs. There are currently 36 children identified, K-8, as academically or intellectually gifted.

At this time, the Conners Emerson School's Gifted and Talented program does not identify or service the student who is gifted in the visual or performing arts, although we are in the process of developing the identification criteria for that area.  Meanwhile, the school does offer many options for these students, including art and music classes, art club, band and jazz band, orchestra, chorus, music lessons,  after-school workshops, and art shows.

More information about the process of screening and identification can be found via the link:  Gifted and Talented Program Description.

We welcome your inquiries.  Direct questions or feedback to: Sarah Winne, Conners Emerson GT Program Coordinator, swinne@mdirss.org
